For the longest time I actually had trouble coming up with something in this style -- no matter how many sentai/tokusatsu/mecha OPs I listened to, when I sat down to compose some myself afterward I somehow just couldn't get a feel for the tone and rhythm. Turns out I was overthinking it, I just needed to imagine what kind of music would be playing nonstop in Pily's head and this piece flowed naturally from there. I want to do more stuff like this but first I need to try and make something that sounds vaguely adjacent to city pop.
