On the powerful new track “Maintain,” producer Neon Brown links with Vursatyl (of Lifesavas) and deejay Red C to paint a realistic picture of what the world is like today for black America. The story may sound grim and downtrodden at times—and it certainly is—but Vurs keeps a positive outlook over Brown’s thoughtful, meditative instrumental and Red C’s head nodding cuts at the conclusion. “Maintain” is the A-Side of Brown’s upcoming limited edition 7-inch record that’s due out April 3.
