Ariwo Eko documents the ambient sound of Lagos. In the EP, are stories that form the ambience of Lagos. The sounds you always forget to remember.
Its opening track which is a solid spoken word piece aired in what seems to be a random street in Lagos until you listen closely and hear that in that noise is communication itself; the language of the city.
On Poverty, the noise is a tad more obvious; detailing what is evident just before you climb the 3rd mainland bridge to work every morning.
Perhaps in a bid to show the two sides of the divide, Mo’believe plays preacher on “Jide” and Victim on “Way home”.
The light hearted “Palmwine” sets you in the mood to play all night like he joyfully sings on “Jolly Jolly”
On Bi Oba, he returns home; rendered in all Yoruba, biting a little from the Ondo Born Legend- Orlando Owoh’s archive.
