“Ojoro” is more than a song—it is a social commentary and a call for reflection. Against the backdrop of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations, Efi Cruise turns his attention to the everyday realities faced by millions of Nigerians, addressing difficult living conditions, economic hardship, and what he sees as the failures of those entrusted with leadership. Rooted in the energy and expressive tradition of Afrobeat, “Ojoro” uses rhythm as a vehicle for truth. Rather than simply celebrating independence, Efi Cruise uses the significance of October 1st to ask a deeper question: what does independence mean when ordinary citizens continue to struggle for basic necessities and a better quality of life?
