Anita's Freestyle' is a contemporary love song remixed from Anita Baker's 'Whatever It Takes', which was a part of her fourth album entitled 'Compositions'. In her original song, Anita's lyrics are a vow of love; an oath to a lover stating that she will do what is necessary to ensure that her lover is happy and has a shoulder to lean on during trying moments. More or less, expressing that love is, in fact, an action word. This remix essentially brings the same energy; reinforcing the idea that saying you love someone is one thing but it may not truly be felt or even understood until you follow through with concrete action, stating that "...you can't tell these girls nothing. They want that action or something..." as sung in the hook. Whether you've experienced love once or many times we all know how much of a roller coaster ride it can be and this song is a reflection of just that.
