7 train was written in a writers camp in LA hosted by SONA (the Songwriters of North America). It's based on an experience of mine when I met a girl on the 7 train in maybe 2013/2014 and we hit it off, but then I got distracted when she got off the subway on her stop, and she officially became "the one that got away". I went to the subway at so many different times, trying to see if I'd run into her again, and never did. Then a year later I ran into her AGAIN on the 7 Train... but didn't realize until I got off on my stop. Deep down, the romantic in me thinks that she'll hear this song and wonder if I was the guy that got away
