When ykb dropped Swaggu, a freestyle that turned out to become a viral sensation, it was a subliminal message that he was storming the industry with an entirely different energy. With Swaggu, he declared his fashionista traits and confidence in his art, in his style. It's all of these that make ykb exactly the kind of artist that he is. A natural-born maverick, ykb wants listeners to know where he's coming from on his debut EP Before I Blow. The 26-year-old artist has been recognized by a few as one of the most unique voices in contemporary Afrobeats. "I want this EP to be a point of reference for my fans in the future, for them to know where my journey started from. It's like a prophecy." He is at the periphery of the genre that is now breaking its way into foreign territories.
