Gabe ‘Nandez — “Coupé Décalé” feat. ELUCID

Gabe ‘Nandez is a stoic globetrotter. Having lived in Tanzania, Jerusalem, Haiti, Montreal, and New York, the NY-based rapper’s style is as influenced by his travels as the ‘90s era of hip-hop. His booming approach sets him apart from bad faith Golden Age impersonators. February’s Ox featured gut-checking raps and his latest project, Seven, delivers imagery in hazy waves.

Collaborating with fellow New York artist ELUCID, best known for his work with billy woods as Armand Hammer, ‘Nandez delivers “Coupé Décalé.” Produced by Roper Williams and Tony Seltzer, the Seven standout is about as breathless as Gabe ‘Nandez gets—as playful with his flow, too. ELUCID’s atmospheric verse adds a layer of esoteric thought. “Coupé Décalé” reads as the moment you realize you’re just a touch too high, but you can’t stop your mind from zooming.
