According to Mike G, sound engineer and one of the producers of the single Savage, the song was created while rapper Tyhler, interpreter of the song, was watching in the studio a fight of former boxer Mohammed Ali, this came as an inspiration in an aggressive way to write the lyrics of Savage since Tyhler before dedicating himself to music was a boxer. Mike says that that same night Tyhler finished the track and they recorded the song while on one of the studio screens they kept projecting crucial moments of Ali's career which is a great inspiration for Tyhler Rosse.
