Roy Rutto’s debut tape “1701” is a short epic in audio form. A story about an outlandish teenager trying to find a “home” in all the places but his broken household. Rutto struggles with himself throughout the project but somehow finds a way to relieve us and reassure himself that home is where the heart is. 8 tracks stuffed carefully with stellar production, lyrical complexity and execution seems to be all Rutto needs to convey his own personal narrative in ways that we couldn’t help but relate with this versatile young artist.
