On their first self-released debut EP Igikumba, the duo formed by DJ/producers DJ Motari and Kavumbi Dust develops a distinctly Rwandan take on underground African dance music, taking cues from the continent’s dominant Afro beats sound and blending it effortlessly with the eclectic influences known from the dancefloors of Southern and Eastern Africa . IGiKumba consists 6 tracks reflecting the raw energy and communal spirt of Rwanda’s rising underground/mainstream scene, adding Team Kumba’s own eclectic influences and global outlook. Conscious of their roots, their sound blends the tradition musical elements of Rwanda with digital production.
