West Side 23 is literally a song about how he spends most of his time that side when he’s not in Johannesburg CBD. Stoots believes that the west brings back his sense of identity and brings forth the best out of him eventually because it isn’t busy as Johannesburg CBD but when Stoots and his friends come out to play in the west they make the town come alive.
