Turning 30 was an important milestone for me. I have experienced so much in that time that I felt compelled to express in the best way I know how - Through Music. I grew up with a very musically gifted big brother who inspired a lot of my early interest in music but I also ended up meeting many peers along my life journey who helped me turn that early interest into an actual passion. I couldn't possibly name everyone even if I tried, but it was important for me to celebrate the milestone of turning 30 with this ep and to make these songs with some of those peers. It's a sonic representation & celebration of where I come from, what I have experienced and where I am today. It's a fusion of everything I love musically and a personal gift to myself

“263 Funk” was inspired by the latest and hottest sound out of South Africa right now – Amapiano – which is taking over the world! 263 Funk is a laid back, relaxed and nostalgic song that was made for easy listening. My frequent collaborator MJ Wemoto brought the chilled vibe on the vocals to complete it and after we made the song we both were super excited to share it with the world!

Summertime 16’s Remix (Legends Edition) is a “giving of flowers” moment to some of Zimbabwe’s pioneering and standout hip-hop living legends who paved the way for the genre and helped carry the torch along the way. 

This remix features A Peace of Ebony, a pioneering hip-hop group from Zimbabwe who this year are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their group being formed! The remix also features the well-known and well-respected premier veteran Zimbabwean rappers, Mu Netsi and Begotten Sun to complete the special moment.

Tsokota is an upbeat African break-up song about trying to prove yourself in a relationship where you give someone your whole heart but instead of protecting it, all they do is break it over & over again until you reach a breaking point and leave.

Neria is a hustler's anthem that makes reference to the late great Oliver Mtukudzi's iconic song titled Neria, through the lyrics "Usaore moyo kani iwe Neria" in the chorus. In this context, however, Soko Matemai, Black Fin & BlvckSmyth take turns to depict a hustler's lifestyle in their own way whilst 'Neria' questions when each hustler is coming home!
