The Anointed One was written sometime between 1978 and 1980 and is one of a number of entheogenic poems from the period. It is taken from my third collection, "13 ::: The Tenderness of Knives" (Amethyst Dragon, 2019). The accompanying image is a detail from a drawing I did in crayon which did not make it into the book. This recording was made on 12 July 2020.
