'War Cry' is an inspirational Reggae track written by Brittani Youman, also known as the artist name, "Hone7." The Bob Marley-inspired tune was written and produced in Tema, Ghana in February 2021 during Hone7's first experience in the Motherland. The recording of 'War Cry' came after Youman (Hone7) visited Cape Coast Castle, the historic Slave port known for shipping enslaved Africans to North America in the 1800s. Youman (Hone7) believes her ancestors passed through the historic port, which she cites as a major influence for the Revolutionary ballad.
