"Ekwedu" is the fifth album by Zimbabwean hip-hop ensemble Malcom Mufunde & YaadUniverse. Written and recorded in a mere twenty-four hours as a companion piece to their previous release, "Ekhaya," the album marks the group’s Shona-language debut. While it explores familiar themes from its predecessor, "Ekwedu" emits a livelier atmosphere, thanks to the vibrant Afrobeats production by The Maker. Malcom showcases his trademark punchline poetry, complemented by vocals from his long-time collaborator TiNaYe and featuring guest verses from Abedi, Dancehall Keddah, and Tidech. Notably, this marks the first time the rapper hasn't handled all the vocals on a YaadUniverse project since "Emcee FM" back in 2021.
