After the release of the lofi inspired track “Not Sure Yet” earlier this year, Justy returns with the lead single “Familiar” off of her forthcoming sophomore album(set for release early 2024). With co-production from Canadian instrumentalist ZForbes, Justy writes candidly about her own struggles with mental health; confronting the fear of no longer being able to recognize who you are, and clinging to the hope that there might be a “place” for this new you. The track features warm production notes reminiscent of Justy’s signature neo-soul/jazz-hop fusion sound, and is accompanied by Taylor Blue’s background vocals. Released in Mental Health Awareness Month, “Familiar” continues to shine a light on Justy’s strength; transparent vulnerability.
