“Debt Collector is a song I wrote at the beginning of quarantine. Suddenly having so much free time, I started getting back into watching anime and rediscovered my love of j-rock. Because of all that, I started to realize that the genre has influenced my music a lot, so I set out to write a song that fully embraced that, both sonically and narratively. The song is part of a larger story I've been playing with, where the protagonist fakes his death to escape this massive debt he owes. The "Debt Collector" partially refers to the person he owes, but it mostly is a manifestation of his own guilt for leaving behind everyone he loves. He's alone and on the run, and he can't help but imagine that everyone resents him for it.
