"Facetime" [Teenie Tiny] started with the beat. I wanted something that felt Jamaican at its core but still carried the groove and swing of African percussion. We locked in at 97 BPM to sit right between dancehall bounce and Afrobeat groove energetic but still smooth enough for melody,it was built around heavy drums and layered percussion, blending traditional Caribbean bounce with Afro-inspired rhythms to create that cross cultural feel.Once the beat had that club pulse, The hook is instantly replayable, and the rhythm pocket hits that sweet spot for both passive listening and active party settings. It’s already connecting strongly with listeners who love artists in the Afrobeat/Dancehall lane.
