Hard Knock Radio The Gentrification of Black Power

We sit down with scholars Dr Jared Ball, Quito Swan and professor Rickey Vincent to speak about the origins and concept of Black Power and what Kwame Toure then known as Stokely Carmichael intended when he first uttered the phrase at a rally in Mississippi. We talk about how the term impacted freedom struggles all over the world and was a motivating factor in standing up to imperialism.. We talk about how outside forces, including President Nixon sought and weaken the definition and ultimately redefine it.. Current Black Power is undergoing another make over one that many liken to gentrification.. we discuss it during our Hard Knock radio round table
