Jesus Christ died for our sins is a declaration of a great dogmatic truth It gives us the very first reason for which Christ went to the cross He gave Himself there as a ransom for our sins we deserved to die we never could have come up out of death if the judgment of God had fallen upon us because of our sins Jesus understood his death in terms of the Servant promised He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him and by His wounds we are healed.
