The Down Here mixtape was originally released back in 2005 as a celebration of Thick Magazine's 50th issue which happened to be the Down South issue. It featured interviews with then up n coming artists from all over the south. Bushwick Bill from The Geto Boys hosted the mixtape that featured exclusively recorded verses and hooks from both Pitbull and Akon who have obviously gone on to become mega-stars. The mixtape also features a ton of great music from a wide range of southern rap artists that were featured in the 50th issue of Thick Magazine. This mixtape was so big locally at the time that other DJs were playing it in the club pretending they were DJing. Shout outs to Nick Dynamo on the fresh cover artwork!
