“Solo Musings -of roses, heartbreaks and ballads” is a musical expression of Onyinye’s contemplation bordering around love and its nuances. It captures the real emotions of the artiste, vocalizing questions that dare to challenge the existing ideal of perfunctory allegiance to another, yet, in a suggestive sense, storifying with great musicality, personal experiences to explore the notions of commitment, loyalty and trust. While the project is born from a personal place, it is intended, with great hope, to air the delirium, questions, concerns and uncertainties that unite young people, especially young African women — lending them a voice to speak for themselves against ideologies that seek to suppress them, and to firmly insist on accountability on every level.
