Unction was born when Jels Quiah and his A&R mentor Jay Newton (Clst City) came together in a session. Major Lazer's Walshy Fire came on board with creative direction, as Ice Prince also delivered verses for Unction. After the song was born, Jels management team, headed by Abz Abubakar felt like the song needed a finishing touch.
