The Mikir Hills district was again rechristened as "Karbi Anglong District" w.e.f. the 14th October 1976 vide Govt.
1951 November 27, the day when Karbi Anglong and North Cachar hills area was shaped as autonomous hill district of Assam, at that time both the districts were a united entity.
