This song comes a year after BDX's most recent project release, ”Expensive Taste.” His single describes relatable experiences from past romantic relationships as an upcoming artist. In “Been So Long,” BDX uses a melodic tune and smooth vocals to juxtapose the hardships of managing romance and a career.
