Inspired by research examining brain activity near the end of life, the song explores reports of heightened awareness, vivid memories, and bursts of organized neural activity observed in some dying patients. Rather than focusing on what comes after death, the song reflects on the possibility that the final moments of consciousness may be among the most profound experiences of a human life.
