The opener, the intro pads were intended to create a somber, yet calm atmosphere. The thumping drums when the vocals come in were intended to simulate the sound and vibration of a heartbeat, which backs up the vocals. The short lyrics set the theme for the follow up story in "Just my Life", and also for the rest of the EP. Speaks of the sound of my heartbeat waking me up in place of my alarm, and how I really don't feel like going through each day. But I have to, cuz of the promises I've made to the loved ones. It's a reminder that we just gotta do what we gotta do, and yeah I know adulthood sucks.
