From American Boyfriend to pop icon in boyband-meets-rap-collective BROCKHAMPTON, the Kevin Abstract career trajectory is marked by bare honesty and earworms. Following 2019’s ARIZONA BABY, Kevin dedicated himself to BROCKHAMPTON until last month’s release of “SLUGGER” with Bubbling artist $NOT and rowdy UK rapper slowthai. “SLUGGER” was a broad departure from Kevin’s earlier work, as he dipped into windier and darker tones, which we first sampled on 2016’s “Blink.”

“SIERRA NIGHTS” sees Kevin Abstract locking in with Ryan Beatty, who contributed to the first two SATURATION albums. The four-minute odyssey stands on needling and lulling production from Goldwash, Romil Hemnani, and indie dreamboy Baird, and flips at exactly 2:47, with sweet guitar strums powering a breathless transition.
