Kingston-born, Toronto-based producer Boi-1da doesn’t delete anything. His mentality that you never know when one song could be your next big hit has led to megahits with artists like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow, and more.

Inspired by the nostalgic sounds of dancehall in the early 2000s, Boi-1da played a major role in the revamping of Caribbean-inspired music throughout the mid ‘10s. “I remember me, Allen Ritter, and Sevn Thomas were having a conversation like, ‘Man, I miss the era of dancehall,’” says the GRAMMY-winning producer. “I miss those basement parties that we used to go to and [they] used to be such a vibe and you just dance and there will be girls bubbling on the wall. People will be dancing with each other… We miss that energy.”
