Blvck Svm — “stonefooted”

Representing South Florida and Chicago, rapper Blvck Svm’s story is a testament to staying the course. Like many artists, the start of the pandemic presented unprecedented challenges for Svm. A steady stream of singles in 2020 and a sense of faith in the work kept him motivated until “Bleach” started gaining traction. By summer 2020, he would release “Cloak,” one of the most difficult songs he’s ever made—a song that could’ve been a screed, but instead was proof, “that I could make a song about serious topics that isn’t corny.”

On his new single “stonefooted,” Blvck Svm bucks complacency for a lowkey song that drips with focus. “One morning I found myself on YouTube watching videos of Tom Brady two-minute drills, taking note of his surgical precision, calm urgency, and lack of wasted movement,” Blvck Svm shares with Audiomack. “It made me want to create something similarly sharp, concise, and without filler. So an hour later, I wrote ‘stonefooted.’”
