Ski Mask the Slump God — “The Matrix”

It’s the mid-2010s and you and your friends have just discovered the explosive South Florida rap scene pioneer, Ski Mask the Slump God. Raucous and unfiltered, quick-witted and silver-tongued, Ski, along with XXXTENTACION and a slew of other artists stormed the internet with an unmistakably raw sound. In the years since, Ski would go on to be a multi-Platinum artist off the strength of hits like “Catch Me Outside,” “Nuketown,” “Babywipe,” and others. He debuted formally in 2018 with Stokeley on Republic Records.

Today, Ski returns with Sin City, his first project in three years. Brimming with dark energy and reminiscent of his earlier work, the Ronny J-produced standout “The Matrix” reignites the fire Ski sparked with Drown In Designer and You Will Regret. Blown-out bass suspends for a floating, Super Saiyan Ski Mask’s entrance. It’s snarling and grimey, and captures all the reasons Ski Mask first stunned rap fans.
