Florida artist Roboy ends our fifth and final week of 17 Bars With the New 1017. Born and raised in Tampa, the New 1017 signee has made a name for himself by fusing his melodic sound with a capacity for lucid storytelling. Roboy gives an unprecedented life to the block that raised him.
Although he’s been singing since the tender age of 15, it wasn’t until 2017 Roboy began to understand the possibilities for a successful future in the music industry. Since then, Roboy has released three albums—Decisions, Yours Truly, and Diamond in the Rough—and a handful of singles such as “Street Lights” before garnering the attention of Gucci Mane in July 2020.
For 17 Bars With the New 1017, Roboy covers Gucci Mane’s 2018 track, “Wake Up in the Sky."
