Behind your favorite artists sit some of the top executives in music, contributing to their success. Introducing Own The Label, a new Audiomack series highlighting Black record label owners who are currently impacting hip-hop culture and providing them a platform to tell their stories.
Own The Label is hosted by Billboard Hip-Hop editor Carl Lamarre, and will be premiered live on Audiomack's Twitch channel. As the next generation of music moguls emerges, each episode will supply gems from the trajectory of our guests’ success.
The series kicks off today, August 27, at 4 p.m. ET with Arnold Taylor, owner of SCMG (South Coast Music Group), the home of DaBaby, Blacc Zacc, Toosii, Big Mali, and TiaCorine. As a 22-year-old veteran, Taylor has worked with major labels like Def Jam, Interscope, and Epic. Today, he's focused on building generational success for Charlotte and the Carolinas. Lamarre and Arnold discuss what it takes to survive in the music industry, his numerous label stops, and more.
