Specially curated by Phlash Gordon, Audiomack is proud to present the Hometown Heroes of Chicago.
The Chicago rap renaissance is always in full swing. With incredible albums from Saba and Noname to rule the summer, along with raucous and footwork-forward offerings from KAMI and Joey Purp, the city is constantly moving music forward with innovative production, flows, and the some of best writing in the game.
Specially curated by Phlash Gordon, Audiomack is proud to present the latest Hometown Heroes of Chicago! Gordon, whose name you can find on the pages of Fake Shore Drive, for one, is as Chicago as they come. He also manages upcoming rap and R&B acts, and as a self-described “dot connector,” brings all of Chicago together with this revamped Hometown Heroes playlist.
“Chicago is more than just my home, it’s where I fell in love with art,” Gordon tells us. “The opportunity to bring attention to its creative community is one of the things in my life I’m most proud of, and I just want to keep doing that in whatever form it may take.”
Featuring Ric Wilson, Supa Bwe, Joey Purp, Femdot, Knox Fortune, and more Chicago artists moving music forward, this playlist isn’t just a snapshot of the city, but also a great taste of where hip-hop as a whole currently stands. The poetics, inventive soundscapes, and undeniable charisma of the city’s MCs is unmatched anywhere else in the country. Chicago rap is not merely a scene, but an always-in-bloom creative community, and the music is all the better for it.
