Lay Bankz — “Anxious”

Philly’s Lay Bankz has been heralded as one of the artists putting her city’s club music scene on the national radar. A song like “Left Cheek” captures all the blistering fun of Philly club with a silky vocal tone. Lay Bankz’ raps are high-energy, and when she slows down and steps into her R&B bag for a few bars, the sound is just as engaging.

Anxious” has thumping production from frequent collaboration Jumbo Sounds, and kicks off with some breakneck spitting. Not one minute in, though, there are rich and sweet held notes before the rush of the hook. There’s an attractive whiplash to the change of pace. “I could be the one to change your life,” Bankz reminds a nameless love. The song just barely touches two minutes, but in that time, captures the breadth of Philly club’s new vanguard.

“‘Anxious’ represents being with somebody who makes you feel comfortable and comforts you,” Lay Bankz shares with Audiomack World. “This person gives you a sense of peace when you are around them despite all the anxiety you may have going on in your life, they bring a peace of mind to you in the midst of it all.”
