LADIPOE & Fireboy DML — “Running”

LADIPOE is leading the Nigerian hip-hop revival. The Hometown Hero has a sharp sound, whether he’s delivering singles solo or linking up with the likes of Buju and Joeboy. His 2019 debut album Talk About Poe helped cement him as a voice for rap in Lagos and beyond. “The only consistent thing is how I rap, so, slowly over my career, I’ve been hoping that fans get it that LADIPOE will always come with something different but he’ll be consistent about how he communicates,” the artist told us in January of this year.

Running” sees LADIPOE connect with Fireboy DML, an Afrobeats artist obsessed with legacy. Together, the pair make a perfectly structured song between Poe’s blustery flow and Fireboy’s ear for the melodic and anthemic. Produced by Andre Vibez, this single balances the feel-good energy with the weighty storytelling we’ve come to love from Poe. Wine gets poured, careers are reflected upon, and Fireboy takes us home with a heartfelt hook.

“Fireboy and I have wanted to link up for sometime now,” LADIPOE tells Audiomack World. “Timing is key in making timeless music. ‘Running’ is a product of good timing and mutual respect.”
