Kizz Daniel — “Lie”

Nigeria’s Kizz Daniel blends Afrobeats with pop and R&B, netting himself award nominations and accolades dating back to 2015. The self-professed King Of Love has enjoyed a fruitful career, with his debut New Era winning Album of the Year at The Headies—a notable Nigerian award show—in 2016.

Kizz Daniel’s “Lie” follows late February single, “Flex,” and with production from Philkeyz and Blaise Beatz, “Lie” has all the necessary elements to be an affecting Afropop track. Kizz Daniel’s tinny timbre drives the tune, stretching out his deliveries to veil the listener. A little harmony here, a little backing vocal there, and the layers all bubble up together to make an earworm.

“I wrote this song in response to an experience I had at that time,” Kizz Daniel tells Audiomack World. “I wanted her to know that my love was true and I had nothing but good intentions for her.”
