Kevin George — “Super Sweet”

Everybody’s in Kevin George’s ear. The Stamford, CT-raised singer and rapper blends pop and hip-hop with crisp writing to make substantial ear candy. The football-player-turned-musician belies a pounding optimism on his new EP, Everybody’s in My Ear. Billed as a fresh start for the artist, who took a concerted break from making music to rediscover himself and his sound, the EP borrows from all corners of DIY culture to make something new and glistening.

Super Sweet” is the EP standout, with production from Kevin George himself, Void Stryker, and Chris Bassaline. On the surface, it’s a danceable heartbreak anthem, but Kevin’s sharp pen uncovers some hard truths about love: “I just hope you appreciate me now,” he wails. “Super Sweet” is the type of track you jam out to on first pass, and think deeply about as each consecutive listen flies by.

“‘Super Sweet’ is an array of emotion, feeling, and thoughts on balancing a relationship I was trying to rekindle,” Kevin George tells Audiomack. “It may be too late to, though… Falling in and out of love constantly, so much on your mind, things getting overwhelming and you not really knowing how to handle that pressure, reminding that person who they are to you, reminding them you did all you could do.”
