KanKan — “Not Da Same” feat. Yeat
In the world quickly adopting the sounds of digitized rage, KanKan remains authentic and innovative. The Dallas-bred artist first debuted as a producer in 2016 for then-underground artists Lil Pump and Smokepurpp, taking the helm as a rapper in 2019. Two 2021 EPs followed soon thereafter.
KanKan’s icy flow over rage beats sets him apart. With “Not Da Same,” an RR standout featuring Portland’s Yeat, two of this scene’s finest link up to stomp out haters. As we mentioned about Yeat in the August edition of “10 Rappers You Should Know Right Now,” this sound is “extremely of-the-moment,” and yet it feels as though he and KanKan are decidedly from the future of the roiling underground. “Bitch we rich, and you not / No, we not the same.” Seems pretty clear to me.
