dvsn & Ty Dolla $ign — “I Believed It” feat. Mac Miller

Three masters of mood music linking up sounds like a dream come true in these trying times. Toronto R&B duo dvsn (vocalist Daniel Daley and GRAMMY-winning producer Nineteen85) and Los Angeles GRAMMY-nominated beach house king Ty Dolla $ign are a strong match, as evidenced by previous collaboration “Dangerous City” from dvsn’s 2020 album, A Muse In Her Feelings. Think of the trio as a meeting of the brooding minds, meant to take over late summer nights.

I Believed It,” the lead single from the upcoming dvsn and Ty Dolla $ign collaborative album, not only boasts loverlorn croons, but also a spirited feature from late Pittsburgh legend, Mac Miller. The single contains all the hallmarks of a poppy, R&B anthem between its infectious high notes and breathless flits of sing-rapping. Daley and Ty’s voices work together between their smooth tones and gravely textures to paint a typical R&B portrait with unique colors. Malcolm’s verse is a tight capper, bringing to mind a more storied version of his The Divine Feminine sound.
