Duckwrth, Phabo — “4K”

Los Angeles rapper and singer Duckwrth is doing SuperGood. His brand of sunny and celebratory music is the perfect antithesis to the misery of the times. This year has seen Duckwrth drop off a stream of singles—“Birthday Suit” and “Make U Go,” as well as return to label independence.

Duckwrth’s bubbly energy is on full display with his new Phabo collab, “4K.” As with much of 2020’s SuperGood, “4K” plays to Duck’s strengths as the elevated boy-next-door. The song sets a welcome scene, too. Think: messy hair and glistening skin and beach parties. Duckwrth’s lilted delivery matches nicely with Phabo’s lower register, as the R&B singer helps carry the single toward ideal summer-song territory.

“Right when outside started opening up and everyone started flocking to Tulum and Hawaii... That’s what ‘4K’ is about. Trying to adjust and acclimate while still having fun,” Duckwrth tells Audiomack World. “It’s the paradox of the recurring line, ‘Was your pandemic popping?’ ‘4K’ is a movie, and that’s what the pandemic turned into when we were let loose.”
