Alexander Nate — “Save This Dance For Me”

Virginia-raised R&B artist Alexander Nate writes for all of us. His hazy tones and detailed writing drove last year’s bluejay EP. Nate’s work is about pushing the limits of his voice and the limits of feeling, making us comfortable with the uncomfortable. Earlier releases in 2016 and 2018 laid the groundwork for a swelling sound.

Save This Dance For Me,” Nate’s first release since bluejay’s seeking for peace, deals with memory and the imagery of a fading love. He articulates subtle pain with a deft hand. Production from Chris Falcone takes this brooding R&B track from standard fare to this teetering experience where Alexander Nate nearly bleeds out on the dancefloor, sounding as elegant as he sounds wounded.

“You know when it’s about to be the last song of the night and you finally get the courage to ask that one person for a dance?” Alexander Nate tells Audiomack World. “This is that time. Sometimes it’s just a dance and you kind of just part ways. But other times, something beautiful and unexpected comes from that one dance. That’s what this song is about for me: having the hope that despite any challenges, you both always remember how it all started, and that the love shared is what moves it forward.”
