"Panic in Paradise" is the punkiest song so far, properly different from the rest of my stuff but I always like a bit of change and a bit of different. My producers and I took loads of inspo from the best like Paramore, blink-182, and Fall Out Boy, wanting that up tempo energy that makes you feel like you’re on some under the counter medication. It naturally reflects the current zeitgeist that my generation faces, we get told it’s nihilism when it’s just reality; what have we actually got to look forward to when tomorrow comes? There’s lots of references to drugs and partying and maybe it comes across a little immature but ultimately whatever your poison is it’s about taking it and enjoying tonight because as Just Jack once said “I guess I never saw that taxi”.
