When we pray in times of crises, we're usually asking that the situation we're facing be changed. While it's right and good to ask for God's intervention, we must keep in mind that the purpose of prayer is not only to change our circumstances. We see in the experience of Jacob that God also seeks to change us, by moving us from fear to faith.
