The Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter, Burna Boy, was born in Lagos. He started producing music when he was ten years old. After graduating from college, Burna relocated to London for university. After two years, he dropped out and moved back to Nigeria to pursue his passion. A creative by the name of LeriQ allocated studio space for Burna to record and produce. His father always listened to dancehall and reggae music. This is where his early influence and music style stems from. His grandfather experimented with Afrobeat music and even managed Fela Kuti. LeriQ and Burna produced a track titled “Prefer to Party” which initiated his rise to prominence on a national and International level. Joyner Lucas (Formerly Future Joyner) is a creative explosion of wit, passion, and lyricism. In 2007 Joyner made his debut on the mixtape “Workprint: The Greatest Mixtape of All Time” alongside producer Cyrus tha Great, Sheen Philips, and Dj Prince as 1/3 of the “Film Skool Rejekts”. This project created waves in underground hip hop circles popping up on major blog sites such as hiphopdx.com & 2dopeboyz.com. A few years later Joyner hit the world with his 2011 solo debut “Listen 2 Me” (free for download at futurejoyner.bandcamp.com) which was well received by a steadily growing fan base. Since then Joyner has won an Alchemist sponsored rap competition (hiphopdx.com 2012), dropped visuals in support of “Listen 2 Me”, and created several stand alone music videos to hold fans over.
