Marcus Yates wrote 'Nice and Neat' in August 2019 to decompress after being tossed by a fling. The narrative is familiar, thus the opening lyric, “She said she did it to protect me/That’s her reason to neglect me.” She’s finding reasons that benefit him to make the breakup process smoother than what it is. Yates signature sound of sonically crafted R&B mixed with a sultry Alternative blend takes prominence for the self-producer and self-writer.
