Targyt the Savior is a Brooklyn native, born to Jamaican parents. He was primarily raised by his mother, as his father was incarcerated. Growing up in Flatbush helped mold his strong background. Music was his outlet, to release the emotions of his everyday life. Targyt was influenced by all genres of music. He grew up listening mostly to reggae and R&B; favoring artist such as Bob Marley, and Sade. He quickly grew an appetite for “catchy hooks,” and undeniable soulful melodies. Hip hop and Rapping found its way into his songwriting abilities, and he learned how to mesh the two together. He creates stories of violence, happiness and of struggles, something which he calls “mood music”.
