Inspired by the rise in murders and gang violence in the black community in Chicago, my native city. LD-HABLO (Lanier Dudley) and Kip-Star (Kiplan Dooley) present Chicago Cries, a collaborative album with strong influences by Gil Scott Heron. This project is meant to be a window, a mirror, and a voice to the existence of the children, families, and people that are affected by the murder crisis that has afflicted Chicago citizens directly and indirectly. Chiraq is a mindstate. but the Chi is an energy and a way of life. Hoping to create a soundtrack of optimism in the face of hopelessness and despair our mission with this music is a call to inspire and create an awareness through sonic allegory.
