FLY, a name given to him by his friends because of his ability to do just that, was born in raised in Queen, NY not far from homes of the iconic rap group A Tribe Called Quest. His father left when he was only a small child, so Fly's mother enrolled him in sports to keep him occupied and out of trouble. As a child, he quickly excelled at baseball and basketball. His basketball skills caught the eye of legendary basketball coach Ron Naclerio at Benjamin N. Cardozo HS when FLY was a teen. He joined the team and had ambition of following the footsteps of NBA pro and street ball great Rafer "Skip to my Lou" Alston who earlier attended Cardozo and learned the game under Coach Naclerio.
